Sensitivity Improvement

Hutman’s technology platform convinces the user by its short time-to-results. Thus, uncultured blood, a specimen with low bacterial load, shall be used for Hutman’s blood-based products.

Even severely septic patients’ blood however contains a bacterial load of 1-10 CFU/mL (Clinical Microbiology Reviews, July 1990, p. 269-279).

Therefore, high sensitivity is of tremendous importance for reliable and fast pathogen detection from this complex matrix.

Eventually, the technology of detecting smallest numbers of bacteria in large volumes could later be applied for Hutman’s entry into the food market, e.g. milk testing.
