Quality Manager TÜV Süd Akademie (Certificate from the TÜV Süd Akademie)

Dr. Sebastian Charbonnier, Head of Quality and Regulatory Affairs attended the seminar and was certified by the TÜV Süd Akademie as a Quality Manager QM-TÜV. Focus lied on strategic quality management such as developing a company specific quality strategy and monitoring the quality objectives of a company. Qualification is based on skills in company self evaluation, quality planning in the value added chain, management techniques for project management and problem solving as well as methods for active quality improvement in the company.

Trade Mission Shanghai

Hutman Diagnostics AG participated in the Trade Mission to Shanghai, China, in May 2015, organised by the China Business Platform Basel. The goal was to gain insight on the Chinese biomedical market and their special needs. We attended the one day Sino-Euro BioPartnering conference, met with potential manufacturers and distributors, potential investors and investigated the process for product registration. We also visited major hospitals and research centres in Shanghai and Nanjing, which was another highlight of this mission. This allowed us to get feedback from microbiologists and clinicians and the set-up for future collaborations.

25th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases

Hutman Diagnostics attended the 25th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) in Copenhagen. One of the main rolling themes from the ECCMID 2015 was about the increase of ESBL and Carbapenemase resistant-bacteria. There is an urgent need for better diagnostic assessment and appropriate antibiotic usage globally. Similarly, there is an urgent need to differentiate viral from bacterial infections from a point of care perspective.

In this stimulating meeting of the European infectious disease community, the recurring topics of clinical diagnostics such as detection of bacterial resistances, distinction between viral and bacterial infections and sensitivity of assays were discussed. In addition new techniques for use in clinical diagnostics laboratories were introduced.

Swiss Biotech Association

Hutman Diagnostics attended the Swiss Biotech Association http://www.swissbiotech.org in Basel on the 14th April  for the launch of the Swiss Biotech Report 2015 supporting activities in Swiss biotech activities. This meeting aimed to bring together more than 400 senior executives from the life science industry in a networking environment. Here we were able to extended our collaboration with key partners within the Culture Collection of Switzerland (CCoS).

Select Bioscience

Hutman Diagnostics attended a select bioscience conference in Berlin on the 17th -18th March which encompassed four different satellite conferences covering bio-detection and biosensors, lab on a chip and micro-fluidics, microarray technology and point of care diagnostics. The importance of automated point of care diagnostics and the development of novel microarray technologies formed major topics of discussion.
